GlossGenius is a scheduling, booking, payment, and business-management platform for beauty, wellness, salon, spa, medspa, and related service businesses. Professionals enter through the official app or browser account, while clients normally use an individual business’s booking site without creating a GlossGenius login.
This independent guide is not affiliated with or operated by GlossGenius.
Owners should use the professional account to manage calendars, waitlists, gift cards, payments, and settings. Clients trying to book should use the provider’s public booking page.
What GlossGenius does
GlossGenius combines online scheduling, a public booking website, client management, payments, point-of-sale functions, marketing, reporting, and team tools in one system. Its current plans serve solo professionals as well as growing businesses with multiple staff members.
The platform has two distinct sides.
The private side is used by the account owner and authorized team members. The public side lets clients review services, choose available times, join a waitlist, and, when enabled by the business, purchase gift cards.
A client does not normally need the owner’s account.
GlossGenius’s client instructions specifically state that booking does not require an app download or customer account. A person who reaches the professional login while trying to schedule should return to the business’s website, social profile, previous message, or direct booking link.
Where professionals log in
Professionals can use the GlossGenius mobile application or its browser-based account. Browser access is available across current subscription plans, although several functions remain limited to the mobile app.
GlossGenius currently identifies website customization, Genius Form management, and gift-card redemption management as examples of mobile-only functionality. An owner may therefore sign in successfully on a computer and still be unable to find the expected control.
Check the device first.
A missing tool can also result from team permissions. Waitlist management, for example, requires calendar-management permission, while payment-processing setup is limited to the account owner and certain authorized team roles.
Do not reset a password merely because one screen is missing. Confirm the business profile, device, subscription, and assigned role before changing access credentials.
How the GlossGenius waitlist works
When a client cannot find an appointment matching the requested service and time, an enabled GlossGenius waitlist allows that client to submit preferred availability. The business can then manage the request manually or use automatic client notifications when the account includes that option.
The waitlist is not a confirmed appointment.
On mobile, GlossGenius documents the setup path as Settings > Booking Controls > Waitlist Settings. In the browser account, the route is Settings > Business > Booking Controls, followed by the waitlist section. The Enable Online Waitlist Registration control determines whether clients can join through the public site.
Another setting can require clients to acknowledge the business’s cancellation policy before submitting a waitlist request.
Enable the waitlist only after service durations, staff schedules, and booking availability are accurate. Otherwise, the business may collect requests for times it was never prepared to offer.
Manual versus automated waitlist notifications
GlossGenius separates ordinary waitlist access from automated matching.
Current support documentation says Gold, Platinum, and Practice plans can use automated client waitlist notifications. Legacy accounts can maintain a waitlist but must handle conversion manually.
With automation enabled, clients receive email and text messages when they join. If a cancellation creates an opening that matches a client’s request, GlossGenius sends that person the booking link. The first notified client who completes the booking receives the appointment.
The opening is not reserved simply because the message was sent.
That detail matters when several clients want the same time. A client may open the message after another person has already completed the booking.
When automated notifications are disabled, the business must open the waitlist entry and convert it to an appointment manually. The documented mobile route is Features > Waitlist, while browser users can select Waitlist from the calendar view.
A deposit limitation on manual waitlist conversion
Manually converting a waitlist entry has a specific payment limitation.
GlossGenius states that a deposit cannot be collected during direct conversion of a waitlist entry into an appointment. A manually added waitlist client also cannot provide a card on file until an actual appointment exists.
This can conflict with a business policy requiring payment before confirmation.
When a deposit or card is necessary, create the appointment through the normal calendar workflow rather than relying on the direct Convert to appointment action. The regular appointment flow can then send the applicable payment request.
Do this first. Skip marking an appointment confirmed and hoping the deposit appears later.
Automated waitlist notifications behave differently because they direct clients back through the booking link, where the business’s deposit and card-on-file requirements can still apply.
Why clients do not receive a waitlist message
No notification does not always indicate a platform failure.
Possible causes include:
- Automated waitlist notifications are disabled
- The subscription does not include automated matching
- No cancellation created an opening that matched the request
- The waitlist entry expired
- The client unsubscribed from email or text notifications
- The service, provider, or time preference did not match the new opening
GlossGenius states that client notifications may fail when notification controls are disabled or when the client has unsubscribed.
Clients normally receive messages when they add themselves to a waitlist, provided the relevant notification channels remain available.
Check the waitlist entry before contacting support. Confirm the requested service, provider, date range, and time preference, then determine whether the canceled appointment actually matched those conditions.
How GlossGenius gift cards work
GlossGenius gift-card tools are currently available across all subscription plans. Businesses can enable gift-card sales, sell cards to clients, redeem them at checkout, review sales and redemptions, and process certain redemption refunds.
Clients can purchase a gift card from the business’s booking site by opening Shop > Gift Cards. They may choose the amount, design, recipient, delivery date, and an optional message before checkout.
Gift cards may be sent to the buyer or another recipient. A future delivery date can also be selected. GlossGenius says future-dated gift cards are emailed at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time on the chosen date.
The recipient email contains the redemption PIN.
Keep that email. The PIN is required when the balance is redeemed, and the business should not ask clients to publish or send it through an unrelated public channel.
Gift-card purchase versus redemption
A gift-card sale and a gift-card redemption are separate transactions.
The sale occurs when the buyer pays for the card. Redemption occurs later when the recipient uses some or all of its value toward a service or eligible purchase.
That distinction affects reporting and payouts. A business should not count the original sale and later redemption as two separate amounts of new revenue without reviewing how its accounting method handles stored value.
GlossGenius’s Sales Report documentation groups gift-card and other payment activity into reporting categories, while its guidance on the Sales Report and Form 1099-K explains that those records can treat payment dates and gift-card activity differently.
Review the report definitions before reconciling taxes or financial statements. The correct treatment can depend on the business’s accounting method and applicable tax rules.
Payment setup and payout destination
Before accepting processed payments, a GlossGenius business must complete identity verification and add a payout destination. The current mobile path is Features > Settings > Payout Account & Verification; in a browser, it is Settings > Business > Payout Account & Verification.
GlossGenius supports a bank account or eligible debit card as the payout destination. It currently does not support splitting transfers across multiple bank accounts or debit cards.
That restriction matters for teams.
The business cannot direct one portion of each payout to one employee’s account and another portion to a different account through this setting. Payroll, commissions, and owner distributions need to be handled separately according to the business’s financial workflow.
Verify the payout destination before accepting substantial payment volume. Skip frequent account changes unless they are necessary.
Why the payout total looks lower
The Payouts Dashboard identifies the destination, initiation time, Trace ID, and, for standard payouts, the individual client payments included in a transfer. Instant payouts do not include the same itemized breakdown.
GlossGenius also states that refunds are subtracted from the payout total but do not appear as individual entries inside the standard payout breakdown.
That can make the transfer appear short.
Review the Sales Report and completed transactions when the payout breakdown alone does not explain the net amount. Do not assume a payment is missing merely because the payout’s visible client-payment list adds up differently before refunds are considered.
If a payout is marked Sent but has not reached the receiving account, provide its Trace ID to the bank. Most standard payouts should arrive on the next business day, though some institutions take longer to post them.
Current pricing and processing fees
GlossGenius currently lists the following Beauty & Wellness subscription prices:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $28 per month | $288 per year |
| Gold | $56 per month | $576 per year |
| Platinum | $168 per month | $1,776 per year |
Annual billing produces effective monthly rates of $24, $48, and $148 respectively. Sales tax may apply depending on the account’s location.
The company currently advertises a flat 2.6% processing rate for ordinary card payments. Other transaction types, including invoicing and Buy Now, Pay Later, can use different rates.
Verify live pricing before subscribing. Plans, discounts, eligibility, and included features can change.
Choose based on the needed workflow. A business relying on automated waitlist matching should verify that its selected plan contains that function rather than assuming every waitlist feature is included at the entry tier.
Fixing login access
When the account will not open, test the official browser login and mobile app separately. Confirm the account email, update the app, and use Forgot Password when the password is uncertain.
Do not create a second business account after one failed attempt.
A duplicate profile will not automatically contain the original waitlist, gift cards, bookings, payout records, client list, or reporting history. Subscription-payment issues may also block access and should be handled through the existing account or official support. GlossGenius says incorrect billing frequency can be changed without canceling the account.
GlossGenius currently lists phone and text support at 1-888-979-7864. Published support hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Frequently asked questions
Do clients need a GlossGenius login?
No.
Does joining the waitlist reserve an appointment?
No. A waitlist entry records the client’s preferred availability. Under automated matching, the first notified client who completes the booking receives the opening.
Can every plan use automated waitlist messages?
No. Automated matching is currently tied to eligible higher-tier plans, although manual waitlist management is more broadly available.
Can I collect a deposit when manually converting a waitlist entry?
Not through the direct conversion action. Create the appointment through the normal calendar workflow when a deposit or card on file is required.
Where do clients buy a gift card?
On the business’s booking site under Shop > Gift Cards, when gift-card sales are enabled.
Why is my payout smaller than the listed payments?
Refunds are deducted from the payout total but are not shown as separate line items in its standard payout breakdown. Review the Sales Report and transaction history for the full reconciliation.
Can payouts be split between two bank accounts?
No. GlossGenius currently supports only one linked bank account or debit card for the payout destination.
Does the web login include every feature?
No. Certain tools, including gift-card redemption management and Genius Form management, are currently limited to the mobile app.
