GlossGenius combines booking, payments, team management, commission tracking, and payroll tools for beauty, wellness, salon, spa, and medspa businesses. Owners and permitted staff use the app or browser account, while clients normally schedule through the business’s public booking website without needing a professional login.

This independent guide is not affiliated with or operated by GlossGenius.

For team payments, identify the worker arrangement first. GlossGenius Payroll and Separate Bank Accounts solve different problems and should not be treated as interchangeable payout settings.

What GlossGenius provides for teams

GlossGenius supports businesses that manage employees, commission-based providers, and self-employed booth renters. Its team tools can connect scheduling, appointment checkout, service sales, product sales, commissions, time records, payment processing, and payroll reporting.

The private business account contains those controls. Clients use a separate public booking experience.

A team member may successfully sign in but see fewer settings than the owner. Access depends on the person’s role, subscription plan, and payment arrangement.

That matters.

An employee who cannot edit commission rates may lack permission. A booth renter who cannot find a personal payout account may not have Separate Bank Accounts enabled. Neither problem is automatically fixed by resetting the login password.

Where owners and staff log in

Professionals can access the business through the official GlossGenius mobile app or browser account. Some team-payment features, including the initial Separate Bank Accounts setup, are documented as mobile-app functions.

Use the email attached to the correct owner or team profile.

When an owner operates several business accounts, confirm which one is open before editing payroll or commission settings. A valid login to the wrong business can show an unfamiliar team list, different payout destination, or missing payroll configuration.

Staff should use their individual access rather than the owner’s credentials. That preserves role restrictions and makes it easier to identify who changed a schedule, payment setting, or commission rule.

Check the profile first. Skip password recovery when the dashboard already opens.

GlossGenius Payroll versus team payouts

GlossGenius Payroll is intended to calculate and process employee pay. The company describes payroll functions that include automatic calculations, tax filings, and direct deposits, with scheduling and commission information connected to the wider GlossGenius account.

Separate Bank Accounts serve another use case.

GlossGenius describes that feature as a way for self-employed team members, including booth renters, to receive payment-processing payouts directly into their own bank accounts while remaining part of a collective booking experience.

The distinction is practical:

SetupMain purpose
GlossGenius PayrollPay employees through payroll
Separate Bank AccountsRoute eligible self-employed team-member transactions to their own payout accounts
Owner payout accountReceive ordinary business payment-processing transfers

Do not choose solely by convenience.

Worker classification depends on the actual working relationship and applicable federal and state rules, not on which button is selected inside business software. A direct payout to someone’s bank account does not by itself establish that the person is an independent contractor.

How Separate Bank Accounts work

The Separate Bank Accounts feature is currently documented for Gold and Platinum plans and is configured through the mobile app. The account owner enables it, after which eligible team members can complete their own payout setup.

Its purpose is direct payment routing.

When an eligible team member processes assigned sales, the applicable funds can be routed to that person’s connected payout account rather than entering only the owner’s ordinary business payout.

This does not mean every team payment can be divided arbitrarily. GlossGenius’s ordinary payout-account documentation says one account can link one bank account or debit card at a time and does not support splitting a standard payout among several destinations.

Separate Bank Accounts are a distinct team feature, not a general split-payout control.

Enable one worker first. Confirm service assignments, retail commission rules, checkout behavior, and the first payout before moving the entire team.

Who can receive Instant Payouts

GlossGenius currently lists Instant Payout access for individual account members, team account owners, and team members who have Separate Bank Accounts enabled. Bank or debit-card eligibility can still affect availability.

The current Instant Payout fee is 1.8% of the requested balance. GlossGenius displays the fee and expected deposit amount before confirmation, while standard payouts remain free of that additional expedited-payout fee.

A missing Instant Payout option does not necessarily mean money is missing.

The team member may lack Separate Bank Accounts, the destination may be unsupported, the account may not qualify, or the balance may already be entering standard processing.

Check eligibility first. Skip changing the bank account only to make the button reappear.

Standard payout timing

GlossGenius says standard payment transfers are sent Sunday through Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding banking holidays. An email titled Your Money Is on the Way is sent when the standard payout is initiated.

That transfer schedule is not the same as an employee payroll date.

A customer card payment, a merchant payout, and an employee direct deposit are different events. Separate them when reconciling the books.

For example, a salon may receive card-payment proceeds through its merchant payout schedule while employee wages are processed through a separate payroll cycle. A booth renter using Separate Bank Accounts may receive eligible merchant payouts directly, but that is not the same workflow as an employee paycheck.

Use the correct report for each amount.

Setting commission rates

GlossGenius supports unified commission rates, customized rates by team member, and more detailed custom structures depending on the subscription plan. Current examples in its documentation include separate percentages for service and retail sales.

A unified setup applies the same rates broadly. A customized setup lets one provider receive a different service or retail percentage from another. Platinum includes additional custom-rate capabilities, according to the current commission guidance.

Before saving a rate, define:

  1. Whether it applies to services, products, or both
  2. Which team members receive it
  3. Whether discounts affect the commission base
  4. When the new rate becomes effective
  5. Whether payroll is connected

Write the compensation agreement outside the software as well. A percentage stored in GlossGenius should match the terms understood by the business and worker.

Do not rely on memory.

When commission changes take effect

GlossGenius says commission-rate changes become effective at 12:00 a.m. the following day in both the Commission Earnings Report and GlossGenius Payroll.

That timing creates a common mistake.

An owner may change a rate immediately before processing payroll and expect every earlier transaction in the pay period to recalculate under the new percentage. The documented next-day effective time means the owner should inspect the reporting period rather than assume a same-day retroactive change.

Review the Commission Earnings Report after the effective date.

When correcting historical compensation, use the appropriate payroll adjustment workflow instead of repeatedly changing the current commission percentage. Otherwise, the business can fix one pay period while unintentionally altering future earnings.

Commission settings with Separate Bank Accounts

Separate Bank Accounts do not remove every commission consideration. GlossGenius maintains specific documentation for setting retail commissions for team members using that feature.

A booth renter may receive direct payouts for their eligible transactions while still owing the business a defined portion of certain retail sales or shared activity, depending on the configured arrangement.

This is where checkout accuracy matters.

The correct provider must be attached to the service or product transaction. A sale recorded under the wrong person can route funds incorrectly or distort commission reporting.

Test one service sale and one retail sale. Then compare the transaction record, payout routing, and commission report before using the setup at full volume.

Payroll pricing

GlossGenius currently lists Payroll as an add-on costing $40 per month plus $6 per seat. Its team-management page describes the per-seat charge as applying to each team member who uses payroll during that month.

That cost is separate from the main GlossGenius subscription.

The official pricing page currently advertises base subscriptions beginning at an effective $24 per month with annual billing, while plan and team limits vary by tier.

Calculate the combined cost:

  • Main software subscription
  • Payroll base fee
  • Active payroll seats
  • Payment-processing charges
  • Optional expedited payouts

Do the math before onboarding the team. Skip comparisons that show only the base subscription while omitting payroll seats.

Prices and included features can change, so verify the live pricing page before subscribing.

Payroll tax responsibilities

GlossGenius Payroll includes tax-related functions, but employers remain responsible for supplying correct business, employee, wage, and state information. GlossGenius maintains support documentation for tax-filing errors, government notices, and state unemployment insurance rates.

State unemployment insurance is commonly abbreviated as SUI. The applicable rate can depend on the state, employer history, claims experience, payroll size, and other factors.

Do not guess the rate.

Use the official notice from the relevant state agency and enter the information through the supported payroll workflow. A generic online estimate should not replace an employer-specific rate notice.

When a tax notice arrives, compare its employer identification details, tax period, filing type, and amount with the payroll account before paying or amending anything.

Why payroll figures may not match sales

Sales, commissions, tips, merchant payouts, and payroll totals answer different questions.

A service sale may include tax, gratuity, discounts, product revenue, and processing fees. Commission may be calculated only on the eligible service or retail base. Payroll then includes wages, commissions, tips, reimbursements, deductions, employer taxes, and employee withholding.

The bank payout shows something else again.

Do not compare a gross sales number directly with an employee’s net direct deposit and label the difference missing. Reconcile the stages:

  1. Gross transaction
  2. Eligible commission base
  3. Gross employee pay
  4. Taxes and deductions
  5. Net direct deposit
  6. Merchant payout to the business or worker

This sequence catches most category errors before support is needed.

Fixing team access problems

When a team member cannot open payroll or payout settings, confirm four things:

  • Correct business account
  • Correct team profile
  • Required subscription or add-on
  • Appropriate role and payment arrangement

Separate Bank Accounts setup is owner-controlled and currently mobile-based. Payroll settings may also be limited to users with the necessary administrative authority.

Use password recovery only when the account itself will not open.

Do not create a duplicate worker profile because one permission is missing. Duplicate profiles can divide appointments, sales, tips, commissions, and reports between two versions of the same person.

Correct the existing profile first.

Can booth renters receive their own payouts?

Eligible self-employed team members can use Separate Bank Accounts to receive direct payouts to their own connected accounts.

Does a separate payout account make someone an independent contractor?
